Childhood Memories
Journal Entry: Wed Feb 7, 2007, 3:38 PM
When I was 7 or 8 I found a mix tape in my parent's stereo system, labeled with my mother's handwriting. Being the curious little girl that I was, I pressed play. Out of the speakers blasted "Time of Your Life" from the Dirty Dancing soundtrack. At my young age, I had never heard of this movie or this song.
You know when you hear a song, but you've never seen the singers, you automatically come up with an image of what they look like? Well, the image I came up with were my next door neighbors, Bruce and Pam Sheridan.
For the next 5 or 6 years of my life, I thought Bruce and Pam sang that song.
I was very disappointed when I learned the truth.

I am in need of music that would flow
Over my fretful, feeling fingertips,
Over my bitter-tainted, trembling lips,
With melody, deep, clear, and liquid-slow.

Life isn't like a bowl of cherries or peaches, it's more like a jar of jalapenos, what you say today, might burn your ass tomorrow.
